On
the 28th of March 2015, the open hall of SMK Bandar Sri Damansara 1
became the official venue of the school’s annual prize giving ceremony. The
recipients were Form 1 to Form 4 students of year 2014 who
excelled academically or in extra-curricular activities as well as the Form 5 students that did well in their SPM.

The hall was packed to the brim well before the arrival of the special guest of the event, Mr. Haji Ahmad Ripaai bin Mat Noh, the YDP PIBG. He was accompanied into the hall by the principal, Mrs. Zarina binti Awang, and the vice principal, Mrs. Tan Mui Kim.
The ceremony started slightly
past 8:30 am with the guests singing the national anthem. The guests were then
entertained by the stellar performance of the '24 Seasons' drums team. After the doa was said and the speeches by the principal and the YDP of the PIBG were given,
the first part of the ceremony began.

The first part of the ceremony was to award those who did well in their extra-curricular activities as well as the best students for every subject according to their forms. Some of the achievers in the extra-curricular activities were Yap Weng Hong, who represented the school in MSSD, MSSS and MSSM athletics; the school’s Taekwondo squad that won many medals in their competitions and Tan Serene along with Tan Wei Jie, both of them succeeded in winning prizes at the state Chinese calligraphy competition. Next, the awards for the best students of each subject for every Form were presented.

A short break was taken in between the first and second part of the ceremony. Students from the Nashid group performed their well-rehearsed performance and the students who performed in Japan as part of the Japan-Malaysia Cultural Exchange Program, danced to the song 1M4U as part of the ‘half time’ performance.

After the performances, the second half of the ceremony started with the award presentation to the students who achieved 7A's and above in the first PT3 examinations. Among the top achievers were Choo Ee Ping and Preetica Mayuri. Both of them got straight As for their 9 subjects, along with Farah Zulkfili, who got 11A's. After that, awards were given to the students who got excellent results in SPM 2014. There were 13 straight A students that year (3 9A's, 7 10A's and 3 11A's.)
The last awards for the day were given to Navhin Raj a/l Amsaraj and Rakcana a/p Kardnanithi. Navhin received the Tokoh Kokurikulum award for his achievements in Taekwondo and athletics. Rakcana on the other hand won the Sindur Bestari award, or the overall best student award. Rakcana achieved 11A's in her SPM, she was the head prefect for the year 2014 and she was active in her extra-curricular activities and become the president for most of her clubs. Attitude-wise, she was very committed and she had an attitude that every student should take into account for.

The guests were treated to light refreshments after the ceremony before the PIBG meeting started around 11 am.
