by CHARMAINE GAN;

It has been 10 years since Puan Noor Hayati came to our school and she has done many great things for us. On the 29th of April 2015, it was time to say goodbye to Puan Hayati as she was promoted to the rank of head secretary to the vice president of the Ministry of Education.

  On a rather sunny Wednesday morning in the month of April, a farewell ceremony was held for Puan Hayati. It all started with Puan Hayati entering our school on a red carpet, accompanied by the sound of ‘kompang’, with Puan Zarina, the headmistress and a few prefects.

          As Puan Hayati took her seat, the emcees, Ustaz Padzli and Puan Laila, took their places behind the podium. Prayers were said and speeches followed. The first speech was given by the students’ representative, Nursarah Fahmy. Next, Encik Nasir gave his speech as the teachers’ representative followed by Puan Zarina. During her speech, Puan Zarina called upon Mr Francis to lead an impromptu cheer. Students and teachers alike cheered along to the cheer, “Excellence is our goal, SMK BSD 1 boleh!”
EXCELLENCE IS OUR GOAL, SMK BSD (1) BOLEH!

  Then, Puan Hayati was given the stage. Puan Hayati said that she felt grateful for her time at the school. She hoped that we, the students, will succeed in the future and will always be early to school. She encouraged us to appreciate our parents, to understand all that our parents taught us and let our parents see the very best of us. Puan Hayati also told us to look towards the future and to always respect each other.

 As the speech continued, the waterworks started for most. A tearful Puan Hayati left the stage soon after to watch the performances prepared by the students. The first performance was by the Nasyid group. Dressed in golden traditional clothing, the group took the stage and began their songs.

Next up was the poetry presentation. The presenter was none other than Henson Lee, who made many people laugh the last time he was on stage. But this time, the atmosphere was sad as he presented his poem. The PRS team was up next with their own poem that they prepared.

The last performance was by the prefects’ choir. Lead by Michelle Leu, the choir sang to the tune of 'Pergi' by Aizat, 'See You Again' by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth, and ended their meaningful performance with their rendition of  'I’ll Be Missing You' by Puff Daddy.

As the ceremony came to a close, students said their last 'thank you' to Puan Hayati. Many lined up for the photography session with Puan Hayati, wrapping up the farewell ceremony.

No matter how many ‘thank you’s we say, it won’t be enough to repay everything Puan Hayati has done for us. Till we meet again Puan Hayati!
“1, 2, 3! TERIMA KASIH PUAN NOOR HAYATI!”
